Kari the Mortician

I have been a licensed funeral director for 20 years and have worked in the funeral business for 27 years. It is truly a passion for me. In my 20 years, I have freelanced at multiple locations and have been the on-site director at three funeral homes. I have gained a unique perspective of the business through my work in several communities and through these different businesses. Funeral homes use varying levels of technology, personalization, and social media. I have seen so many ways to maneuver through the funeral process, from removals, paperwork, prep work, arrangements, staffing, and aftercare.
I want to help funeral directors give a better customer experience to the families they serve. I want to help educate consumers about the different areas of the funeral business. I want to help those with a passion for the business get pointed in the right direction towards working in the business or to mortuary school.

Were Elvis' Embalming Instrument Auctioned Off? Just Give Me 2 Minutes
Sorry, but....What do you mean by "use wax on lips without *real lips? 😄/🤦🏻 In what case would a person have just lost their LIPS??! 😂
I just had to say,.........The top that you're wearing is really sweet!...'so cool looking!😊
That would be a little creepy 👻 the lighting going on and off at the funeral 😅methinks🤔
Sorry but I saw "Tombstone" on January 2,1994 at the now defunct Tower Theater in Downtown Bastrop and Val Kilmer did say"I'm Your Huckleberry", not "I'm Your Huckle Carry!!". I have an 11"×17" poster for "Tombstone" in my Man Cave. Also I was in an Antique Mall recently and I saw a tin sign with Val Kilmer as Doc Holluday that says "I'm Your Huckleberry.NowLet's Dance.".😮😅😅
The thing that bothers me most is that the girls had to be in a special coffin, or liner, I can't recall but the family didn't even get to say goodbye. Those girls deserved to live but in death he made sure they couldn't be buried with dignity and as beautiful as possible. They were adorable and he DESTROYED their bodies.
And don't open the cooler door😮
Thank you Kari for the demonstration big shout out to your mom ❤
So wonderful! Amazing 😊
He was murdered.😢
Interesting kari ! Quack... quack!...lol😂
O yes yes thank you young lady . Kari , Gods blessings on you and yours . We love you ❤
Interesting video Kari! Quack....quack ! ...lol😂
Thank you so much
Hey Kari, i wanted to say thank you for your videos and your peace. My 2nd husband who was only 52 years old died a few days ago in bed and the police and judge had to come out since we didn't live in the city. We are waiting on the coroner to let us know what the COD was and take him to the funeral for the cremation. Im hoping the funeral/cremation will allow me to see him one last time and allow me to preas the button but I don't know what the rules are.
My grandson’s urn is a small heart inside a stuffed penguin.
Backup generators.
When my wife passed our dog was a wreck. I did the heart breaking task of watching her my dog Besty go through not knowing. I had her put down because she had cancer herself.
You are absolutely right, thank you so much for the honest answer. There’s no way nobody would know. Unless you’re inside the coffin with the dead person. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m just here to say, my name is Bar Landau (first name Bar, last name Landau) and I played in a band called Choral Hearse. And it’s a metal band. Just like the landau bar is metallic. A bit offended about the sentence “it’s not functional, it does nothing”… hits too close to home…😑
Interesting but never heard of it
How long before cold storage becomes a problem?
The power went out a few times during my father's visitation. Luckily it was very brief, yet it was so cool and kind of fulfilled that nightmare we all have about being alone in the dark in the funeral home. That was 11 years ago, but it still makes me smile that we made another memory with dad, even though it was at his funeral.
Thank You Kari!!!❤️. I exercise Love every Day! I love you too Kari. Whoever reads this I Love You❤❤
Memory Eternal🙏🏻 ❤Reader John☦️
My dear mother died 7 months ago. Took care of her alone at home during her 8 yrs.illness(dementia). I keep Mom's ashes in a beautiful glass container I decorated with flowers. She's in my bedroom I feel her loving protection. When I die I shall be cremated and my and mother's ashes will be both scattered in a beautiful forest nearby where we loved to go walk.
Im aware how old this is but these algorithms or whatever are goofy. This was a real good video. I might be making a similar video in the future but your getting all the credit!!! I found one other with a guy that does it a lot but had no real info.
Roll with it. Yep. When my husband's friend died the burial was in another town. It was a biker funeral and since ours wasn't running, we took the back roads. We waited. And waited. We even went to the tavern where the reception was. Then back to the cemetery. Andcwaited. Eventually a pick up truck arrived with two guys in the back and the casket bungie cirded in. The axle snapped on the brand new hearse. On the Avenue of the Saints. The fineralbdurectir was mortified. Those of us who obew him laughed. It was perfect. He was more of a pickup truck kind of guy rather than a limousine kind of guy anyway.
Comic relief. A sign. Dealing with an awkward situation. Life!
“ the funeral director was mortified”. 😝
🕯🕯🕯🕯
I'm so sorry, K, but if the power goes out, and it's late, and I'm working alone, I'll just come back when the power is restored.
Thank you for the analogy, Kari!
I have heard, if there is a will, there is a lawyer.
Or relatives.😂
Makes sense. I personally would never run off of a car battery. I would have to have several of them linked together and then invert the power into AC rather than DC when all my pro media gear goes into the field.
Possibly some funeral homes could have a back up generator, regards to you and Josh Kari, take care,🙏👋👋👍🇦🇺
I'm sure the bigger funeral homes do, but the country side ones probably not.
@@lauragadille3384 suppose cost would be the main factor .
I'm surprised that the organs aren't returned to their body location. At least that was what I always thought.
It's like mixing puddy😮
Interesting 😮
I'm learning so much. Thank you Kari.
Has any real spooky things happen that make you wonder
I’m confused, I thought the lips were sewn together?
No. They go through the bottom of the jaw not the lips. And not every body gets prepped with sewn lips.
Very interesting,😮
N K needs to hear this.
Do you ever get sick doing reconstructions? Or is it just like sculpting an art project 🤣
A friend of mine was a librarian so his wife got one for him that was a stack of beautifully-made books
Says it all ... ❤
Lovely idea for the Ashes. 🙂
❤❤❤❤Right back at ya
Could it be classified as the bodies last fart???
There is a Potter's Field on top of the ridge by the Price Hill viaduct .. All the TB victims were throw into a pit. No markings.
Do you need a 4 year degree in Mortuary Science in order to learn Advanced Restoration? I am Canadian and am interested in learning advanced restorative techniques when I have completed my college diploma.
Some Buddhist monks will perform a end of life ritual where they fast for weeks, and enter a meditation state for many days, even weeks after taking in no food and water for this extended time, they then drink a concoction which is basically salt water. They re-enter the meditation trance, which results in death. The body is left in a cool dry environment and mummifies. These mummies can be found on display mostly in Japan and Eastern Asia. FYI… the salt water concoction kills any bacteria in the gut, severely inhibiting decomposition. This is self inflicted and viewed as an act of great personal accomplishment. 😳 My uncle told me about this after he came back from living in Japan in the early 70’s. he had pictures of his girlfriend’s great great uncle who was on display in one of the villages and whose family was very well known as a descendant of his. He said that he had been there since before the American revolutionary war happened.
They are called sokushinbutsu. I just had to look it up….
